Butterfly pea flower tea that is not only beautiful but also refreshing and stress-reducing!

Butterfly pea flower is a small beautiful flower that can easily be made into tea. It is commonly used in many herbal teas, drinks, and even cosmetic products.
It is easily found in Southeast Asia and can be easily grown in your backyard. It can be easily brewed up as brilliant blue color tea.
I grew several pots of these flowers in my backyard along with pandan leaves and lemongrass, so I often brew these tea.

The flower is so rich in antioxidants and have several positive health benefits.

You can dry them easily and keep the dried flowers in a container for later use.

WHAT DOES BUTTERFLY PEA FLOWER TASTE LIKE?
Butterfly pea flower tea has mildly sweet flavor, a little bit like chamomile. It is relaxing and stress-reducing.
Some lemon slices put to the tea will change the blue color to purple instantly. The taste will also be different

ANOTHER TWIST OF BUTTERFLY PEA FLOWER TEA
Add a few lemon slices, your beautiful blue color tea will change to purple instantly. It will be very delicious with lemon zest flavors.
Mix with milk or heavy cream and you will have a beautiful blue latte.
BUTTERFLY PEA FLOWER USES
Now you can have butterfly pea flower extract in powder if it is difficult to find the fresh ones in your area.
There are many brands available in the e-commerces stores. I like this one, the color and taste is almost the same as the fresh one.
IS THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Even though there are only few side effects of these flowers, you still have to be careful, especially if you are allergy prone.
If you are allergic to butterfly pea flowers, the most common side effects will be nausea and upset stomach. (2)
INGREDIENTS
- 30-50 pcs dried butterfly pea flower
- 3-5 stalks lemongrass stalks
- 3-4 pcs pandan leaves
- 200 gr rock sugar
- 5 litre water
HOW TO
· Wash clean the pandan leaves and lemongrass stalks. Cut them in shorter form.
· You can use either dried form of butterfly pea flower or the freshly picked ones. They are both the same and will generate the same amount of beautiful blue color and taste.
· Boil 5 liter of water in a pot. Put in the lemongrass stalks, pandan leaves, butterfly pea flowers, and rock sugar.
· Let it boil until the pandan leaves change colors.
· Sieve and let it cool completely.
· Transfer to a bottle and keep refrigerated for 3-5 days.
· Serve with ice cubes and/or lemon slices.
· Please note that when you put in some lemon slices, the color and taste will be different. It is up to your preference.

THINGS TO NOTE
Butterfly pea flowers are different from purple hibiscus or blue spirulina, even though the color is almost the same.
You can use dried pandan leaves, dried lemongrass stalks, and dried butterfly pea flowers if you can’t find the freshly picked ones. The flavors will be the same.

Notes
If you can't find the fresh ingredients, you can always use dried butterfly pea flowers, dried lemongrass stalks, and dried pandan leaves. They will create the same taste as the fresh ones.
